Is a macbook good for schoolwork?

Never used a mac before, i like that it all comes with the movie editing stuff and so i don't really want a pc. but, is it good for typing papers and stuff?

I am a full-time college student, and let me tell you; my life became so much easier the day I bought by MacBook! Yeah, you don't really need a Pro or Air, the MacBook will suffice just fine. Make sure you buy Windows Office 2008 Home and Student Edition though, because it will not come with a good enough software program to type papers and stuff (Text Edit sucks). Also, make sure to get black even though it's slightly more expensive than the white. Mine is white, and it's really hard to keep it clean. If you buy a Mac for school from www.apple.com, you will also get a free iPod. But yes, Mac all the way! =]
