Is a masters degree from uk equivalent to USA's?

i am looking forward to do a phd in usa after doing an msc in uk...is this sensible?

has anyone else done this?

  1. Yes, the two degrees are equivalent. In fact, most PhD programs in the U.S. only require a bachelor's degree for admission, so you could even skip it. Keep in mind that in most fields a PhD takes a longer time to obtain in U.S. that it would in the UK.


  2. I'm fairly sure you can... jsut make sure it's an Msc not an MA, as a Scottish MA is like a bachelors  - just a year longer.
