Is a mechanical pencil with 0.7mm lead #2?

I need to know if it is number 2 and/or are all mechanical pencils number 2?

  2. 2 refers to the hardness of the lead.  There are several hardnesses available ranging from #7H down to #2H and then to H, HB, 2B, 3B and down.  I find anything down beyond 5B to be almost liquid.

    Lead diameters range from 0.1, 0.15, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 0.9 and 1.1.  Sometimes even larger.

    I like the 0.5 but I have an old (1930s) Shaeffer mechanical that requires 0.9

    So, it is the lead hardness that is #2 and the 0.7 refers to the diameter of the lead.
