  1. Yes a Marauder is faster but not by much.

    The SS uses a 5.7L 16 valve push rod LT1 V8 putting out 260hp and 330 ft-lbs of torque, and the Marauder has a DOHC 32 valve 4.6 V8 putting out 302hp and 318 ft-lbs of torque. Also the gears are more aggressive in the Marauder witch has a 3.55 rear end to the Impala's 3.08. But the biggest difference is in the way they handle. The SS is very sloppy and handles poorly, while the Marauder handles very well for a car that weights more than 4000 lbs.

    Also a small note there were 69,678 SS's made but only 11,052 Marauders made.
