  1. Mitsubishis are excellent cars IF and that is a big IF you take care of the requiered maintenance, which can be pricey. After market parts are available for the older models but newer model parts can be expensive. My family owns 3 all mid 90s models and we like them a lot, but I allot about 500 dollars a year for maintenance on each.

  2. I'm on my second Mitsubishi now, a 2008 Lancer. My first was a '93 Mirage, which went until 2004 before needing any real repairs, just routine maintenace. Mitsu's get a bad rap for being unreliable but I think that's largely because a lot of Mitsu owners drive them a lot harder than Toyota or Honda owners and are more irresponsible.

Having said that, parts are not cheap and labour takes longers because a Mitsubishi engine bay is very tightly packed and repairs take longer than they might on some American models.

  3. I own a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer ES which I bought almost two years ago. Never had a single problem with it.

My sister owns a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant.

Never had a problem with it.

After market parts are available of course

As for prices.. they vary on where you go to get them.

30+ Mpg on a sedan.. Very good.

I'd say they're up there with Honda and Toyota.

But they are machines, So you do have to keep up with maintenance.

Don't go American, Japanese machines are GREAT economic cars. And look way better too.

    Go Mitsubishi!

  4. I would consider a GM.  More room and better gas mileage. Also, GM have several cars that are highest rated by JD Power.

  5. I own a 2000 Mitsu Eclipse GS.... I change oil at every 3K, changed timing belt at 60K, yada yada.... keep up maintenance and is all good... So far, got 77,000 miles on it and it has never been inside a shop to get any major repair... then again i work on cars for a living, but yes, great cars.... Mitsu is basically all Mo-par sh$*, and my motor was used in an early first jen Hyundai Santa Fe and such....  Proper maintenance my friend, no matter what make of car.... thats what keeps it running :)

  6. Mitsubishi has a lot of cars.. Some reliable and many not so much. The Eclipse is a lemon from the years 1991-1999 but fairly reliable from 2000 up. Most of their other cars are shop hogs.
