  1. A monsoon is a seasonal event when the winds shift directions.

I would classify it as a pattern because it always happens each summer.

  2. Yes, a monsoon is technically a seasonal shift in the prevailing wind direction.  It typically results in a change in the weather, most often from dry to wet, or wet to dry.  It is a part of an area's climate, but not climate in itself.

  3. Monsoon is a type of climate only.In India, the south-west monsson blows regularly every year between June and September and north-east monsoon blows during October to December every year.We in India usually say that India experiences 'a monsoon type of climate only' and not 'as monsoon type of weather'.

Climate is what you expect and weather is what you get.We can always expect monsoon every year at a particular time.

  4. it is weather not climate. u see, climate describes the atmospherical condition of a region or area for a period of time , it does not change at an instant!ex- india has a tropically hot climate, antarctica has chilling climate and so on.. but, weather is the condition of ur surrounding at that particular time! it keeps on changing time to time. one weather replaces the other.. so monsoon is just a weather type that keeps for some duration.
