  1. That first guy is clueless! His knowledge concerning fully auotmatic rifles and semi automatic rifles is entirely out of the ball park, an "AR 15" is not a fully automatic rifle it is a semi auto, its army counter part the"M-16" is. A pump action shotgun is legal in Kalifornia, however, I am pretty certain that it cannot have a pistol grip extruding from the bottom of the gun. Do not confuse the pistol grip stock (one like described above) to that of a traditional pistol. grip stock where the wrist of the stock is thinned down and contoured so that your hand will be positioned on the stock like that of a pistol.

  2. Shotguns are legal in california or as I like to call it the socialist republic of kalifornistan. Sorry but I don't like california for their gun laws and everytime I'm out there somthing bad happens.

First time earthquake, we went there last october when your state was burning down, I've gotten so sick I had to go to the hospital, the list goes on of little thing that p**s me off.

  3. I was just in San Diego this past weekend and Big 5 Sporting Goods was running an ad in the San Diego Union Tribune selling an 8 shot Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun designed for "security" for $249.99.

While that isn't the same model as the .410 Mossberg 500 hs you're asking about, it would probably be a better gun.

Wouldn't you rather have a 12-gauge in case you ever have to use it against an armed attacker?

  4. yes my dad owns one and im going to buy one when i get the cash. they are great shotguns. but ya california is hard *** on our gun laws. i live in Cali as well. there is a cork in the loading tube that only alows 4 shell but u can take that out to fit 6 shells. just for ur knowlege 6 shells is illegal in CA. but dont get caught and u wont have a problem

  5. A shotgun is legal in most states, check with your local police department. Personally I would choose a hand gun for home defence as it is less likly to be taken away from you when you are startled awake with an intruder outside your bedroom door. If you insist on a shotgun get something bigger than a .410 that will anger some one and you more than likely will have to fire more than one shot to stop them.

  6. a pump shotgun with a pistol grip is legal in CA.  Gun shops sell them.

  7. Yes it is.  Just use a regular-type stock, NOT a pistol grip - that would make it illegal.

I own a Mossberg 500 and had it when I lived in California (I left three years ago).  At least one time a cop got a close look at my shotgun and said nothing.

No, I take that back.  He said "How much did you pay for that?" and "Is that sling real leather?"

  8. Of course every full automatic weapon is illegal for regular civilians anywhere in the US. There are some variants of the AR-15 that are legal in California. They use a modified lower receiver so it's not able to accept a magazine, and they're single shot only.

Before you purchase any firearm in CA, I would definitely recommended that you consult a lawyer in your area specialized in firearms laws. Their laws seem to get stricter every day.

  9. yes, only fully automatic assault rifles  are illegal like the ar-15

  10. As a pump action shotgun the 500 HS is free from the restrictions placed on semi-automatic firearms. You can also have a folding stock, extended magazine, etc., etc., all those things you can't have on a semi-auto.  Any gun shop will be able to verify this information.  You can also check with the California DOJ.
