Is a mud turtle a good pet?

i want to get a turtle that i can take out of its aquarium.

It depends on what you call a mud turtle. If it's a snapping turtle, no.

If it is a musk turtle, maybe because they usually are 5 in. long. But males of some musk turtle species are agressive.

yes and they are friendly and when you talk they look at you and recognize you. my grandfather found a baby one on our driveway and we decided to keep it. i named him Franklin, like the children's tv show character. at first he was skittish, but now he looks at everyone when they talk to him, like he's listening, and he is really friendly. they are also pretty easy to take care of, except for ours will only eat meal worms and there is a shortage around us, so we had to search to find a pet store that had them and we bought up their whole supply. (i guess because so many animals eat the meal worms, that's what caused the shortage) they say that the shortage shouldn't last much longer. but, it's bad for ours because that's all he will eat.
