Is a netbook any good for a student?

Or would I be better off getting a proper laptop or something else?

A netbook is basically an ultra small notebook (like the Asus Eee PC). It has minimal capabilities and a small screen, but is also very cheap and light.

If you only want to be surfing the internet and typing documents, and you are on a very tight budget than a netbook might be good for you. However if you want to be able to watch movies, store a good amount of music or play games, then you are better off shelling out ore money for a standard laptop with a 13inch screen.

A netbook would be perfect for your purpose, because they're also light and portable. Some of them even have better memory than before. If you want it for games, etc, you'd be better off with a laptop.

no i think they break easaly so go with a laptop

Yes it will be great for that purpose. A good amount of RAM too.
