Question:

Is a nickle with a totally blank side worth anything?

The "missing" side is the one with the date - so I don't know it's age. The other side is a picture of the Monticello building.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

  1. I would say someone must have removed one side, that can be done easily with modern buffing equipment. Even if something got in the way of the obverse die there would be a pattern of it or at least some of the image would be on the coin. Does the coin have a rim on the blank side or is it gone. If gone it was removed by someone. It is easy to fake error coins so a dealer needs to see it. Try more than one to get their opinions. With error coins one needs to see it. Best I can do without seeing it.

  2. Sounds cool, i would go to a coin shop, or go on line, i hear there are coin places you can look up to find that out. i would think it would be worth something, being that its a mistake by the U.S. Mint, but it could also be some form of destruction on it.
