  1. Yes. Officially nut is a fruit same as hazel and almond they belong to the same fruit type.

  2. Billy11B gave the correct answer.

  3. yes...but to me it shouldnt be considered a fruit though... it comes from plants but i think it should be included in the meat and bean group because of the high protein and fat content.

  4. How about, it depends.  Usually the nut is not the fruit, but the seed.  A good analogy would be a peapod.  The pod is the fruit, and in many varieties you do not eat the fruit.  The pea is the seed (not the fruit) and you do eat it.

In the case of coconuts, it's neither.  It's a fatty tissue pith of the seed, but the entire fruit is the husk and all.  Walnuts, Pecans, peanuts, etc.  The shell is the fruit, again, the nut part is the seed.

  5. yes. a hard one-seeded fruit

  6. A nut is a nut. A fruit is a seed surrounded by an often but not always edible pulp that can aid in seed distribution.

  7. Yes, In actual classification of fruits the nuts are one types, the others incude Berries(Tomato), Pome(Apple), Pepo(Cucurbit),Drupe(Mango),Nut(Cashew nut),etc.....

  8. No! A nut is what's inside the fruit. It's why the fruit exists.

  9. A nut in botany is a simple dry fruit with one seed (rarely two) in which the ovary wall becomes very hard (stony or woody) at maturity, and where the seed remains unattached or unfused with the ovary wall. Most nuts come from the pistils with inferior ovaries (see flower) and all are indehiscent (not opening at maturity). True nuts are produced, for example, by some plant families of the order Fagales

  10. Nuts are seeds that are covered with a hard shell
