  1. No, Oyster One Day Travelcards can only be used on Transport For London services.

  2. The Oyster card can be used on overground services within the zone 1 to 6 if they are pre paid, not touch and go, however if you travel outside of the permitted zone you will be charged the FULL fare from staring point to destination or a Penalty Fare.

If you turn up with a touch Oyster most overground stations do not have the facilities to tap your card and therefore will not register your payment, nor do you get any discount for travelling with an Oyster.

    Hope this helps

  3. If you have a travelcard, as opposed to an oyster card, it is valid on all services - rail, bus, tram - within the zones covered. A copy of the map can be found here:- http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/t... Oyster cards, by themselves, are not valid on many surface rail services, not run by Transport for London, as the railway companies have not installed the necessary not keeping pace with each other.

I have to agree that the oyster site is about as clear as mud. So far as I have been able to make out, however, if you journey within a travel card period, but using your oyster card, on services covered by that oyster card (which, as I have said aren't all services), then you never have to pay more than the price of that travelcard. If I'm wrong, then no doubt I will be corrected.
