According to my Step-Father, who set up a special code with his friends on using an oija board, they are influenced by evil spirits.  He would ask questions of the spirit, like its name and such things.

1. Never ask it for a sign.

2. Never ask it to predict the future.

There are some other rules too.

Dangerous stuff.  I don't recommend messing with it.

Neither, it is a game and a diversion.  Ouija boards are purported to be controlled by "spirits", which make some think of Satanism.

I've played it, nothing happened. All movement was caused by the players, regardless of what they might say.

It is a game, that is said to represent something bad.  You can buy it in Toys R Us, after all.  That doesn't mean that it cannot be scary, because it can be.  It depends on how susceptible you are.  The idea of the game plays on your beliefs and gullibility and fears.  The people using the game make the planchette move.  Personally, I would never use one because I do not like what they represent.  Just use common sense.

on here theres going to be alot of nuts saying it weird and then there other people say it fake and fruit... well in my opinon dont play it.. its bad.. and real and its true... honestly u can go from a non haunted house to a haunted house in seconds when playing the ouiji board... trust me on it man its really scary.. iam 16 and i want to play it so bad but i am scared half to death what i might see or hear or .. w/e happens but in all if u going to do it.. go to a friends house or sumwhere remote... cus people say ouiji board opens portals for ghost and such to enter and well u get what i mean if anything
