Is a parking ticket considered a moving violation? And does it cost you points on your license?

Also, if you pay the ticket does anything show up on your insurance policy or whatever in regards to it?

  1. A parking ticket is not a moving violation because the car was not moving at the time of the violation. Paying it will not affect your insurance at all and it won't cost you points on your license.


  2. "No" to both questions.  A parking ticket is written to the vehicle, not a driver.

  3. No to all of the above.  A moving violation is something like speeding, running a red light, stop sign, etc.
