I don't think it is as my kids didn't need one to visit their dad a couple of years ago....but things may have changed since then. Having this argument at work...I say you don't, a friend says you do.

  1. Anglo Irish agreements allow people to move between Ireland and the UK without immigration checks and as such, no passport is required. You are advised to carry identification of some sort for security checks and for transport between the Ireland and the UK, particularly if flying.

  2. YOU DO NOT NEED A PASSPORT IF A UK

    RESIDENT>. IT IS OF COURSE A E.U.COUNTRY...

  3. Best to check with the airline as some will let you travel with photographic id instead of passport (ie. driving licence) and others won't. I went to Scotland from Luton 2 years ago and used my driving licence as id but I'm sure things have changed since then.

  4. Kids don't if they travel with you! just a birth cert will do! Passports needed really if they travel alone! Adults can get away with photo driving licience depending on airline!

  5. i went last year and didn't need one and i'm going with friends later this year. they haven't said anything so...

  6. you don't need a passport but if you fly from the UK you will need a recognised form of id

  7. no you dont need a passport to visit southern ireland, i live in Pembrokeshire and regularly make the crossing. it is advisable to take some printed form of  I.D. if possible. hope this helps.

  8. No, but your carrier, airline or ferry company, will probably require some form of photographic identification. This varies with airline: with Aer Arann a bus pass is sufficient whereas Easyjet requires either a driving licence or a passport. Check with the company.
