  1. YES, TO GET INTO ANY COUNTRY YOU NEED PASSPORT AS OF JAN 1

  2. NO, but you need one to get back to Alabama.

  3. If you go in by land or sea, NOT YET.  You do need it to travel by air; but currently a govt-issued photo ID (driver's license or other state ID) and a CERTIFIED copy of your birth certificate will get you back in.  Once you're on the ship you do not need to present the passport to get on and off (go figure).

IMO it's probably a good idea to go ahead and get one anyway, you are going to need it sooner or later.

  4. I would think so.  You are leaving the country and coming back.  You definitely need to get your shots taken care of.

  5. I think so. As of January 1st.

  6. yes,

  7. For ground/sea travel in the western hemisphere you currently you need a government ID (i.e. Driver's Licence) AND a CERTIFIED (the one with the bumps) Birth Certificate.  No passport is needed.

However, this summer the rules will change and you will need a passport even for ground/sea travel so you may as well just get one.

Turnaround is about 4 weeks and you can fill out the application here:
