Question:

Is a pest eating my tree?

We've got a big p***y-willow tree in the garden

but everyday, around the base, there's sawdust -

which is red in colour

i.e. the same colour as inside the bark.

I've also noticed a long hole is forming.

I've tried getting rid of any pest using the jet on the hose pipe

but that isn't helping.

Such a beautiful tree - don't want to lose it.

Any advice please?

  1. Go see a nursery and get the proper chemical....and don't blast the tree with water........you've probably got something else happening there

  2. Is it a Woodpecker??

  3. If you can't see any kind of creature/ insect in day light have a look in the dark with a torch take something that will go in the hole depending on the size of the hole ,if you still can't see anything put the wire or what ever you have to prod inside ans hopefully kill the beast.

Beware you might get some smart *** saying it's a giant wood worm or a beaver, have an answer ready good luck Alex
