Is a polygraph required as a pre-hire investigation requirement for DHS/ICE Criminal Investigator GS-1811?

1. If polygraph is required as a pre-hire requirement, is it full-scope or counter-intelligence?

2. Is the position subject to random polygraph without cause?

* Please only respond if you are knowledgeable about the pre and post hire investigation requirements for this position. In case you were wondering, I'm asking these questions because I'm a current federal employee and I am concerned about not being selected for the position because of the polygraph and having that failure on my federal record to follow me for the remainder of my career ... also, I'm not all too excited about talking about my wild and misguided college years.

  1. Lawfully no it is illegal to require a polygraph of anyone even for crime, a polygraph is given of free will, and it is not a crime to manipulate the thing although that makes you look guilty, to require a polygraph is unlawful search. remember you are secure in your PERSON too.

  2. The Polygraph Test is required of all Law Enforcement Organizations, and is very complete in its scope!

After being hired, it can and will be used for cause.
