Is a "good" credit rating enough to buy a house in this economy? Or does one need an "excellent" rating?

  1. 740 Is really good Reality,that coupled with a good work history should get you qualified with a good rate.Why do you ask?are you looking?Hmmmmmm,what are you up to now.


  2. You can have a credit rating (FICO) of zero and buy a house. You can buy it with cash or through a loan that does not utilize "credit ratings" (i.e. bank relationship, verification of income, and assets).

    It's sad some many people have been brainwashed into being servants to FICO.

  3. If your score is 740, then that is way above the average of 675! So, you are doing quite well. As long as your DTI isn't too high, you should be fine and have no problems buying a house.
