  1. Yes, but that won't address your question. Rugby is a stamina game, you have to go constantly for two 40 minute halves.

A rugby pitch is 100 meters long, versus 100 yards long for a football field so a rugby pitch is a little longer. But in rugby, you will run end to end many times during a game, and from side to side.

As far as conditioning goes, i would say stamina and lower body strength will be the area to focus on. Circuit training is very effective, but you don't want to rest too long between stations.  (You won't get the chance in a rugby game to rest often, other than during penalties or after a try)

  2. yes

  3. From goaline to goalline it is about the same size, depending on the conditions of the available ground. The laws of rugby state that the measurements for a rugby field "does not exceed 100m in length and 70m in width". Add to that the in goal area which "does not exceed 22m". The laws of soccer state that a field should be 90-120m in length and 45-90m in width. Clubs will stay within these measurements, depending on available open space.

  4. Most Rugby Fields are bigger than an American football field, which is what I assume you are asking about based on your other questions. Rugby Fields are about the same size as a Canadian Football field. However - if you are playing in the US it would not be uncommon for you to play a Rugby game on a football field, it would just be relined for Rugby, so in that case goal line to goal line it would be the same.

The size of the field shouldn't factor into your conditioning,  rather the style of each game. Rugby you run more than Football. If you are a forward you run a lot more. If you are a back, you still run more but most of it will be at a sprint.
