  1. The Outlook, along with the Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave, is one of GM's new large car-based SUVs. It can seat eight passengers, or seven when equipped with the second-row captain's chairs. The 3.6-liter V6 engine is smooth and refined, and returns 16 mpg overall.

the vehicle costs less wearing the Saturn badge

    owner review:

    Pros:

The Outlook drives nice and handles wonderfully on the highway. The seats and interior design are great with the overall look and feel approaching the Lexus series SUV that my wife drives. Overall room in the cabin is almost beyond belief, as a former Tahoe owner I feel that I have more room now than previously.

    Cons:

So far my biggest problem is with the excessive noise that is generated at low speeds by the air conditioner compressor unit. Its loud and very distracting. I have had it to the dealer and am told that GM is working on a fx. Once the vehicle is up to highway speed this is not an issue, however at low speeds you almost believe you are driving a farm vehicle of some sort. Why build a tight and quiet vehicle and then allow this whine from the accessory items to ruin it all. The other issue that is annoying is the transmission computer shift pattern. It is slow to shift gears at low speeds and hence has sluggish acceleration unless you really kick it so as to force the gear shift.

    Overall Review:

As a new 2008 Outlook owner I am extremely pleased with the overall vehicle, with the air conditioner compressor noise and the poorly programmed low speed shift pattern on the transmission being the only gripes. Once these two issues are resolved by GM they will have a absolute winner! These both should be easy issues to resolve from an engineering point of view I would suspect and hope. It seems that they got the rest of it right, just clean up these few issues. It is great to see American made anything approach the quality level we see in the Lexus and other high end auto's.
