  1. It is a show in that ribbons are awarded and it is a judged event.

The reason for schooling shows is to allow young horses and riders to gain experience.  "Real" shows are typically for points and are usually far more competitive.

  2. I consider a schooling show to be a real show.

They just tend to be less competitive and have fewer entries.

  3. I don't think so.

It's just kinda' a little "practice" show.

Funny, I am just about to go to a horse show tomorrow!! :P

  4. I think it sort of is. That's funny you asked because I was in a show today.

  5. a schooling show is 'practice'. You don't gain points every time you go to one . like you do in the actual shows. An actual show is to compete to see who is the best rider in the community. Schooling shows are the total opposite

  6. It is an actual show, but you do not get points for your placings toward year end awards from any governing body such as USEA or USDF.

  7. I consider it a show because you are being judged and are awarded places.

It's not a big show, but a show nonetheless.

  8. It is a show and you get ribbons, but not points like the rated shows. They are also a little more informal. The last one I went to I got away with wearing a Polo, Paddock Boots and Half Chaps. That would never happen at a "real" show. Schooling Shows are great to gain experience though and they're a lot of fun.
