  1. We've had 2 VW Passats, both secondhand.  The first one had regular problems with the electric windows, but so far this one has been fine.  Not aware of any other problems that we've had.

Shop around for the repairs, services etc.  Our dealership is quite expensive but we've found another VW garage that just does repairs etc, not selling cars, and it's a lot cheaper.

  2. can be ok but they doo suffer from water collecting in the in the area below the wipers leting water getting sucked in to the servo causing the oil to turn milky similar to head gasket so try not to be conned by this-and water in the footwells-we have go a customer with one with 100000 miles on the clock main expense may be the timing belt because of the labour and maybe radiators can be pricey on these.

  3. Passats are good cars, not any real probs.

Maybe though you should have asked this question before you bought it?

Well wisher? or jealous someone who maybe wanted it themselves cheaper?

    Happy motoring.

  4. it is. germany makes good cars

  5. no, get your self a used civic.

    Good luck!

  6. Your well-wisher was right. Once things start going wrong they tend to continue, and they can get VERY expensive. So you know for next time, never buy a used VW without a full dealer service history and average or better mileage.

    Regular probs:

    Headlights falling out of alignment

They can EAT front tyres...some cars need them replaced every 3000-5000 miles!

    Fuel Pump

Engine warning light going on for no reason which a garage can find

The heater can sometimes stop working and just blow cold air

    Water pump

    Head gasket

    Loose exhaust

    Dashboard electrics failing entirely

Hope you bought a nice, regularly-serviced, low-mileage one.

    EDIT

Cool , thumbs-down for giving a full and CORRECT answer. Just do some research, there are whole blogs and forums about how rubbish used VWs are.

  7. I'm sure it's gonna be fine, but perhaps you should have asked this question before you bought it. Good luck.
