What if it's just a one time thing done without thinking that never happened before?

  1. I think that the reality is that DV always starts like this. There is always a first time. The first time being the last time is EXTREMELY rare.

Violent people usually say things like 'I didn't mean it' ' I wasn't thinking' 'It will never happen again' - but it does, and it gets worse.

  2. Depends on the context if the female or male gets in the face of the other in an agressive manner i would say its completly reasonable to shove them back away from you.

  3. I wouldn't call the police bc most domestic violence cases both parties go to jail, I wouldnt want the record, but I would immediatly get a restraining order, and would find a safe way to leave.

  4. My Mom once slapped my Dad one time.

Then a day or so later she did it again. this time they both beat each other up. anytime a man or women slaps shove or pouch their mates. it can lead to more and more violence.

If it really is only one time I think they should talk it out and try and see why they got into hitting or a shove. so it can never happen again.  then they can be happy and really be sure that they will never ever hurt each other again. violence knows NO gender. God Bless

  5. My girlfriend shoved me one time.  I called the cops and they wouldn't even arrest her because they said I was not hurt.  We should talk it out.  If it was the other way around I'm sure I would've gotten arrested.

  6. I slapped an ex once when I was younger and I've never stopped feeling guilty about it, I don't condone any kind of violence and I was so ashamed I broke my own rule.  Is it domestic violence?  Undoubtedly it is, whether one incident makes you a domestic abuser, I don't know.  I can invent all kinds of excuses for myself based on the violent things he did but ultimately I'm responsible for my own actions.  Best thing you can do is just learn from it and move on.  If you can't contain your temper with one person, you shouldn't be with them, and if you can't contain your temper at all, then you shouldn't be with anyone :-)

  7. Its no big deal, but it is still illegal

  8. I have left men for just raising a hand to me and never actually hitting me.  I have seen abusive relationships and refuse to participate in one.
