Is a small amount of the wrong blood type injected into a patient a serious risk?

  1. It depends if the person whos blood get injects into another person has a disease does than yes. And sometime blood transfusions result in them very rarely

  3. Its not exactly a simple answer. Some blood types are more compatible than others. For instance O- can be given to a person regardless of their blood type.

  4. depends on the bloodtype given and the bloodtype of the patient. For example, if you have type A blood then you can safely recieve type A and type O blood.  If you are type B, you can recieve B and O.   If you are AB, you can recieve AB, A, B and O.  If you are type O you can only recieve type O blood.  If you were to recieve the wrong blood type, for example if type A recieves type B it can result in a severe hemolytic reaction, destroying the patient's red blood cells and resulting in death.  Although I'm not sure how much of the wrong blood is necessary to induce a hemolytic reaction.
