okay so me and my friend have been debating on whether a subaru, is a rally car or ricer.

i say its a ricer, because it sounds like one and looks like one, and engine wise it is basically one.

he debates its a "rally car" because they are used in rally races

i agree with him in a sense that a pure carbon fiber subaru with racing stuff done to it, would be a rally car, but he says any stock subaru would be a rally car,

i wanna see what yall have to say.

  1. Why would you even ask that question??

Performance suspension, turbo and intercooled, plus awd...

    You shouldn't reproduce, Rally!!!!

Evo is only comp for s****.'s

  2. Rally car.

The definition of Ricer is a slow car that has exterior modifications and muffler modifications, but nothing to make the car actually go faster

Ricers are Kia Rio's, Honda Civic's, Mazda Protege's, and Scion tC's that have bodykits and wings and loud mufflers, but no performance upgrades like exhaust system, inatke, turbo.

A regular unchanged Honda Civic or Mitsubishi Lancer are not ricers unless they have something on them that makes them a ricer.

  3. I got this off some subaru impreza club forum.

    Ricer :

(Ricer: from the latin word Ricarius meaning to suck at everything you attempt)

A person who makes unecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to):

    - Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder

    - Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747

    - Lots of after-market company stickers they don't have parts from, but must be cool

    - Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself

    - Bodykit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire

    - Clear tail lights and corner signals

    - A "performace intake"- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine)

Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas, however there are some domestics such as Chevrolet Caviliers, Dodge Neons, Ford Focus; small, slow, economy cars designed specifically to go slow. Please note that some Supras, Skylines, WRX's and other higher performance imports are designed to go fast, and are therfore not always considered rice. It really depends on the severity of the case.

well that pretty much sums it up.and the person who posted got it from urbandictionary.

  4. rally

  5. its a rally car. awd and turbocharged. its a rally car

  6. I gots a 97 Legacy GT twin turbo AWD with a racing tranny(6 spd)............. go ahead and call that "RALLY"

  7. I would like to know how anyone can consider a AWD Tubo car with 227hp(wrx, more in 06+ models) or 300hp(STI) a rice car. And yes, people commonly use production sales models in amateur rally cross. Only absolute that needs to be had is a roll cage. They are also quite frequently used in production class rally as well.

Subaru and Mitsubishi pride themselves on the fact that their WRC class cars are one of the closest among competitors to their production vehicles.

    Still don't believe?

Weak lil 4 banger with a blow dryer on it?

I suggest you go visit Nasioc.com and check out some of the cars as well as the dyno graphs that people are commonly putting down with simple small bolt ons, or better yet check out how much extra hp people are putting out with a simple Cobb AP or open source reflash.

simple math for 280 crank hp everything else STOCK save for DP

Cobb AP - 500  or  Opensource  - 89 for a cable and your computer

    downpipe  -  200

    total =  $289 - 700.00

Rice? Try running one with even only $2000-$3000 (in the car world that's pennies) in his engine, then tell me if it's rice.

  8. i dont see any ricing when a v6 subaru beats v8 chevys and v10 fords in drags.

just because it looks like a ricer doesn't mean it really is

i know alotta people think stock looking integras are riced. did they ever look under the hood? b20 block putting 14psi +350whp how rice is that? its called sleeper homie

i don't really care that people who dont know cars call ricers. i mean when you see the obvious like when a civic puts the dc2 type r sticker on it then thats riced ok fine. but when you call a subaru wrx a ricer car thats really crossing the line.

  9. No unmodified car can be rice. Rice status comes only from aftermarket add-ons and modifications. And there is no such thing as a rice engine. Any vehicle can be made into rice with the addition of an unnecessary wing or chrome tail lights and many other things. Any car can rally, some are just much better than others. Subaru pioneered AWD, and have been turbocharging their cars since the early 80s. The Impreza dominated WRC for years and even the base models have racing heritage in them.

  10. its more rally. we are ripping out one of there motors to wack in the dune buggy so it better not be just another rice burner!!

  11. Rice is in the eye of the beholder.  Unfortunately, there are some cheaper used one available now so the youngsters are "ricing" them out and that's just the name of the game.  It is very close to the cars used in rally racing around the world though.  And there is enormous potential for power with the stock motor.  There are plenty of Subaru's running low 11 sec 1/4 mile times with bolt on's and the stock motor.  In fact I live in a pretty redneck city and there are some interesting times when the Corvette's and supercharged Mustabgs get beat by 4 cylinder Subaru's.  They get pretty mad and it's very funny.  You can think what ever you want about the car.  Not everyone likes them and that's fine.  Buy soemthing else if you are worried about being a ricer.  Your loss.

  12. There are limited edition Subaru Impreza P1 and basically it is all rally type RS cars.

The one you got from dealers (WRX, STI, Legacy, Forester) are just all ricer car.

If you want to test a car to be a rally car, try to roll over few times and the rally car will survive because the roll cage still reinforcing the body.  The stock car, probably rumbled into pieces.

So, stock subaru is ricer; modified completely to the Rally Spec is a rally car.  Price is different.

  13. Its an excellent make and you ARE RUDE.
