  1. It depends. If you have a difficult time learning a lot of new material and doing work practically every day, as well as studying for hours, then summer session science is not for you. If you think you can handle it and are a fast-pased learner, then I say, go for it.

It also depends on your ability in chemistry. If you are able to grasp the concepts fairly well in a short amount of time, then chances are you'll do great. If chemistry is new to you, then I would not recommend taking it during summer session. I took summer session physics during my freshman year in college, and did horribly, mainly because physics was a new subject for me and I was not previously acquaintained with it.

Regarding the math, I am not so great with math myself, but have managed to get an "A" in first semester college chemistry. The math involved in beginning chemistry is mostly simple applied algebra, nothing too tricky.

Interestingly enough, I stumbled across your question because I, myself, will be taking second-semester chemistry (college chemistry) during summer session next Monday.

I've taken summer session before, and yes, it is rather difficult and fast paced. You have to realize that learning new material in the amount of time usually alotted for a full semester, will make the class much more challenging and difficult. But if you understand what is going on, willing to learn quickly and take the challenge, you should do well.
