Is a swamp cooler bad for my high def. LCD television?

I use a swamp cooler to keep my house bearable during the summer. But I have two HDTVs, one of which is in the same room as my swamp cooler's output vent. Does the higher humidity pose a risk to my expensive electronics?

  1. I'd move the vent away from the TV set, or move the TV to another room....

You really don't want it Directed DIRECTLY at the TV set....

But you haven't had any other issues with OTHER TV sets before, so I believe your TV sets, and your Swamp Cooler should get along fine.....Just as long as that cooler isn't directing it's humidity straight into the TV's chassis.....

  2. You need to get yourself a Hygrometer to measure the Humidity in your home.  I live here in the High Desert of So. Cal. and my TV is about 8 ft from the output register of my Swamp Cooler and in 8 years have never had any problems.  I just don't let the humidity get above 55% in the house.  You know it's too high when your skin feels clamy.

Added:  To be clear, the TV is about 75 degrees from the face of the register and not directly in it's path.
