Is a tb test painful?

i am getting a tb (ppd) test done tomorrow. i really don't like needles/shots. is it very painful?

  1. It's not like a shot.  There is a needle but it only goes under the very top layer of the skin.  Believe me, it's really minor.

    They squirt just a little liquid in there, and then if you have the tb antibodies it gets red in a few days (but it doesn't hurt).  This happened to me.  When this happens, then you have to have an x-ray, but of course that is completely painless.  Why they don't just do the xray first I have no idea.


  2. A tiny needle is inserted just a wee bit under the skin.  A little bit bit of fluid is injected in.  You will often seen a little "bubble" of fluid just under the skin.  

    It is just a quick prick, and a little sting.  Done in 10 seconds :)
