  1. tea length is fabulous

  2. tea length ones are very appropriate for a formal wedding

  3. if ur in it no

  4. formal doesn't have to be floor length...as long as it's dressy.

  5. absolutely, long floor length dresses are out!

  6. They are just as beautiful and I wore my mothers dress at my wedding many, many, many years ago!

  7. Tea length is fine provided the wedding is early in the day.  An evening wedding generally should be floorlength.  But, you know, it doesn't matter. If you want tea length, have it!

  8. I think longer= more formal, but I'm sure you could find some fancy tea length dresses if you have your heart set on them.

  9. Technically formal wear for women is a long dress.

It really is up to you. IF you want Tea length dresses that that is what you should get. IF you want to go but the book then formal is a long dress.

  10. Yeah it can be but I think its more the material that you should focus on. If you get a nice silk or satin material tea length dress, it can be nice and classy. If you get another more casual looking material dress it might not work. Look at this dress from Davids Bridal, I have seen bridesmaids wear this one, and it was beautiful. The girls were also able to wear the dresses again.

  11. Of course it's appropriate!  I just got married last Saturday and my maid of honor wore a tea length dress (and it was a formal wedding).  You should have your bridesmaids wear whatever length of dress you choose.  It's your day!

  12. Floor length is only applies for an evening wedding...Most people get married in the day.

  13. me and my mother had this fight about my bridesmaids dresses back when I was planning my wedding, she thought it had to be long since I was having a more formal wedding, and I like the tea length ones....I ended up saying s***w it and she got her way (the dresses were the same just came in different lengths) anyway, NO they don't have to be long.  You don't want to get a super casual looking one, but the tea length is becoming more and more formal.  much more versatile!  I'll be wearing a tea length one in a wedding in a few months that super formal....and its coming together great!  good luck!

  14. I like the tea-length ones- if they have to shell out that much on matching shoes, they might as well get to show them off!!

  15. i think it depends on the style of your dress... i wanted my bridesmaids to wear tealength dresses because it's july and in texas... but my dress was too formal to allow that (i didn't want my girls to clash with me) so i went with simple floor length ones that were just as casual (for a lack of a better word there) that matched the style of my dress.

  16. I honestly belive Floor-Length is more appropriate for a formal wedding.

If you wedding is in the afternoon and your dress does not have alot of beading in it then go for the tea Length.

Also consider where your cermony will be located at!

  17. Tea length is not considered formal!  And Tanya she was asking Tea length for bridesmaids not Brides dress!!  And a tea length dress for the bride is NOT FORMAL!!

  18. Tea-length dresses are suitably formal for anything but the MOST formal of occasions (for example, if your guests are wearing black tie and floor-length gowns, so should your bridesmaids). But for the vast majority of weddings, tea-length is fine. Use a dressy fabric like silk or satin, rather than linen or cotton, to keep the dresses formal.

  19. What time of day will the service be, and how formal are the groomsmen's tuxedos and the wedding gown?

If it is an evening ceremony, your train is long and formal, and the tuxes are formal, and you want to be completely proper, the dresses should be full length.

However, if it is afternoon (before 6:00 p.m.), and/or your dress is less formal (no veil, or train, etc.), and the tuxes are simpler, you can certainly do tea length.

These days, pretty much anything goes anyway, but if you are wanting to stick with traditional etiquette rules, those are the guidelines.

  20. Floor length is more formal as long as it compliments the bride's dress.

  21. Yes, of course, it all depends upon the style you choose -

  22. It should be floor length. The reason being that bridesmaids should be dressed nicer than guests and if you have a formal wedding guests will surely know to wear a floor length gown. The bridesmaids should not only wear floor length but it should probably not be completely plain. If you really want something tea length how about a compromise like this.

  23. I think that they are appropriate, however, my personal opinion is that floor length are much more elegant.

  24. I think for a formal wedding it should be floor length gowns.  The tea length would take it down to a semi-formal wedding.  But if you want tea length, its your wedding!

  25. If it is a black tie only affair then I think that the floor length gowns are a more appropriate attire...but I've seen lots of bridesmaids in tea length dresses for formal weddings.
