  1. Why?

  2. No:

We don't need each other to learn universals from.  Can it happen that way?  Memetically, yes.  This predisposition seems to be an instinctual prerogative which promotes human movement towards a higher quality of life.

Yet, we do not need each other to apprehend and discover universals.  They can be discovered individually with investigation & intuition.

  3. I would say no.  I see a Universal as an inherent "truth" derived from countless repetitions.  For example a Universal truth would be that the sun rises each day (except in certain portions of the world).  Or that human beings need air to live or that humans are mortal.  These are held to be true because we have never witnessed an occasion to the contrary.  What's interesting is that there was a time in our history when these were not necessarily Universals.  Mankind did not realize they were mortal (speaking philosophically) in the beginning.

An antibody suggests that this knowledge is spread from a source, from a specific people to the rest of the world.  There are still humans in the world that indeed have never had contact and they more than likely believe that the sun comes up everyday and when the sun goes down, night comes in tow.
