I have seen too many postings saying you need a BA for teaching English positions. Can you get away with a diploma - Engineering to be precise, Or do I need to go back to university? I have the 4 week Trinity College TEFL as well.

  1. you need a BA for teaching English positions, this is exactly true!

  2. You need a 4-year university degree. I'm guessing you are in England? In the US, a 4-year degree is a BA (or BS). If yours is the equivalent of that, you are fine. It can be in any subject area to get a work permit, though getting a job is usually a little easier the more closely it's related to English/teaching.
