  1. I have been on many cruises and have seen tartan jackets, tartan trousers, (not on the same person), yellow tuxedos, full African, Scottish, (kilt and trews), Flemish (with clogs), and Turkish national dress (with Fez) and that was only the men, so I don't think a velvet Jacket is unacceptable (It is black? I'm sure I have seen a red one once).

I'd think twice about it, if you have the velvet trousers to match, that would be a bit OTT.

    Enjoy your cruise.

  2. they are no more in fashion and he may get stick from the other passengers most places are reasonable tell him to get a nice white jacket TKMax great bargains and out with the old and in with the new have a lovely time

  3. lol..!!

  4. Sounds a tad old fashioned, wear something smart and stylish....trousers and coat

  5. sure why not whatever is comfortable

  6. Although most men wear trousers and a sportcoat or something of that sort, I don't see why this wouldn't be acceptable.  On one of my cruises, I saw a man allowed in the dining room on formal night with a Hawaiian shirt on.  I'm sure your jacket will be fine.

    Hope this was helpful!

  7. If it's one of those Rosie O'Donnell cruises, sure.
