Is a water tower safe to get in durning a tornado?

I don't know if the water tower is the safest place to be in the world during a tornado but it is probably the safest place to be in your town.  water tower are specifically designed to with stand straight line winds in excess of 100mph when they are empty, they are round to shed the worst winds and when they are filled most of them weigh well over a million pounds.  If you check pictures of towns  devastated by tornados the water tower is almost always left stand.  Some of the older tanks that haven't always been properly maintained and are no longer structurly sound of course are not nearly as safe.  If you have any more questions visit my blog at freemoneyjakass.blogspot.com and leave me a post or email me
