  1. Right now I'd say it is good. It helps our trade imbalance by promoting exports and decreasing imports.

  2. it's pretty two-sided

a weak dollar promotes industrial growth, because american labor becomes cheaper with a weak currency, and exports become cheaper as well, making both more desireable to foreign entities.

on the other hand, a weak dollar makes it more expensive to travel internationally, it makes staples like food more expensive, and it is just not good for the economy.

as for now, a weak dollar is the last thing we need, although the dollar is shown to be increasing in value, slightly...

  3. we need a strong dollar

  4. why would a weak one be good?

  5. Mmmm the trading value of the U.S. dollar has lost 50% of it's value since Bush came into office...

How can that be good?  LOL

What are we exporting?  Just dollars (deficit), some guns and ummm jobs.  That would be bad, very bad for our economy.

But, it can be good in the fact that it shows how bad the last 30years has been insofar as conservative economics, corporate economics that knows no such thing as country loyalty and deregulating markets that benefit corporations over the people.  Demand side economics and power back to the people is the obvious response to a major economic crisis.

  6. It is a double-edged sword really.

A weaker dollar makes our exports look more attractive to foreign buyers, stimulating our economy at home.

However, oil is traded in dollar, so as the dollar devalues, oil appreciates.
