  1. A portion of the white blood cells are what are called phagocytic (monocytes & neutrophils).  They protect the body by fighting the bacterial invaders, and anything which does not belong in the body.

  4. Several types of white blood cell are phagocytic namely monocytes and neutrophils. Lymphocytes are also invoved in fighting infection but they produce specific antibodies against foreign pathogens.
