  1. Yes.  Radiographers are in demand almost everywhere that you go and you can advance through the modalities if you want to do something else such as CT, MRI, US, NUC MED, INTEVENTIONAL ect.  You can also get your BS in Radiologic Science, which can open the door for other degrees or career fields.  So, if thats what you think you would like to do, I would say go for it. I hope this helps.

  2. Both are good paying careers.

  3. For general career info:  http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search 'radiologic technologists' or such.  Just fyi, a person must take 'technical physics' as part of the curriculum :)

They say to forgo those programs for 'limited-scope x-ray tech' as most facilities don't hire folks with that training.  Please look for an accredited program and also steer clear of those private $$ schools but instead opt for the community college or state uni.

How about volunteering at the local hospital in various departments to get a feel for how comfortable one is in that environment.  For other possible opportunities:  http://www.volunteermatch.org

  4. Yes . My dad worked for GE back in the late 60's. Then went to work at a hospital for 30 yrs and retired a few years ago now lives in Fla. Raised 3 kids while mom stayed at home. I'd say go for it
