I'm not even in high school yet, but I am thinking about being an accountant in the future. Plus almost all of my family are accountants so I would keep the tradition going I guess.

  1. What exactly qualifies as a good job? Something you enjoy doing I suppose. So you have to look at accounting and ask yourself, do you find it interesting? If you enjoy math and working with numbers, then yes, it can be a very suitable job for you.

But don't worry too much about it now. Once you are in high school you will have a  better understanding of all  the career options available to you.

  2. According to me accounting is a very interesting profession..

But it depends on your own choice that what u select as your career.

Don't just go by the fact that your family background is of accountants just look for your own interest..

    best of luck...

  3. I am an accountant and I love my job.

NO it is not boring. To me my job is like puzzle, unlike some people who would like to miss guide you this not a job with same thing over and over .

This job can be challenging. But you have to be detail oriented and one thing I noticed is all perfectionists are great accountants and love their job.

If you categorize yourself as perfectionist then you are going to love this Job

  4. My dad's an accountant.  I took a few accounting classes.   A lot of numbers.      A lot of work.  Most accountants I know tell me they have a lot of work.

    It's BORING.

  5. my dad and mom are CPAs (certified public accountants) and started their own firm. i was more inclined to arts (poetry, writing, graphics) but i chose to try accounting; simply because of three things:

    1. i didn't want my parents' effort to go to waste

    2. i was always good with business and numbers (stocks, etc. since i was highschool)

    3. i thought i can do what i've always wanted while working as an accountant.

Now, I've been actually working for 3 years as a CPA. Career-wise, job opportunities are high (different fields are open) and getting promoted to CFO of different companies may take time, but is often rewarding.

I would probably inherit my parents' firm one day, but as of now, i try to gather more knowledge and experience in other firms. i get what i want to do. i wrote novels, painted, starting to learn media graphics, etc.

i guess what you have to learn before entering accounting, is you have to reasons more than what you have stated to drive you there. doing it for your family is not enough; but doing it for yourself.

    take care kid.

  6. um not really

  7. Boring!!

  8. Unlike non-mathmatical fields such as human resources, possibly marketing, etc......

accounting-type jobs become more difficult with higher pay.  CPA's have confusing jobs from what I hear.  & it's very hard to pass the CPA exam.

Some accountants tell me they work 60 plus hours per week.  This one guy told me 80 hours.   If you value time off, I advise you to stay away from this job.
