  1. No, Acer's perhaps the cheapest brand available in the West, at least alongside Averatec and a few Advent models. This of course often translates into poor build quality and shoddy parts. I owned one and after about 6 months the AC adaptor brick died. Thing always felt flimsy, too. I wouldn't hold my experience against them if it weren't the general concensus.

If you need quality, buy a business-line laptop. Thinkpads are perhaps the best, but Lattitudes, Fujitsus, Tecras and other things are probably good, too. It's sad, but businesses do get better quality products.

  2. one of the cheaper brands out there. if u wanna spend around 500, its okay. if u are dishing out 1k+ i'd prob go for something with better build quality like dell or lenovo (better customer service too)

  3. The top quality laptops are from Apple. Really great build and design.

  4. Acer isn't bad. I have one and it's be phenomenal for me. I've experienced no problems, and it run's great.

  5. Yes it is...especially now with all the back to school sales

  6. No brand of laptop is a good investment because computers are not a good investment.

But either way, if you need a laptop there doesn't seem to be any decent statistics so as far as anyone can tell all brands are about equal.

Of course every brand produces bad models from time to time so you might want to search for the model you are looking at buying just to get an idea of what kind of experience others who bought it have had.
