Is acne possibly contagious?

I know it sounds pretty stupid, but hear me out.

My boyfriend has tons of acne on his face that he has a hard time getting rid of. My face rarely gets acne.

He likes to rub his face up against mine especially when we hug, and I really don't mind. Sometimes he'll sit there and I'll let him caress my face with his. Once day we did that alot and the next day I had a couple small pimples on my forehead and alot on my chin that broke out but they left in a day and a half. Do you think that came from him or it could've been something else? I'm not that concerned with my face to stop letting him do that, I just wanted to know if acne could be contagious?

  1. Yep! The bacteria from his acne can transfer to your face.

This is you mustn't go touching your spots and then other parts of your face without washing them - spreads them around.

  2. Well is his face oily? Everyone breaks out. It's just some people don't have the causes to MAKE them break out. Acne is hereditary. Also a few pimples isn't acne. If his face is oily, that could make ANYBODY breakout.

  3. The oil on his face can irritate your skin and cause you to brake out.

  4. never

  5. It might of been from him, but it depends. Sometimes you get acne because of bacteria on you're face. If other people or yourself touch you're face without cleansing them, than bacteria can spread easily and get into you're pores.

  6. I don't think acne is contagious. Here are some suggestions for your boyfriend:

Beware of using any acne products unless they have been prescribed or recommended by your doctor.  People make all kinds of suggestions about the best thing to do to cure acne.  Some cures I’ve heard include putting oatmeal, honey, lemon juice, tea tree oil, cucumber, vinegar, milk of magnesia or toothpaste on your face.  Practically every cosmetics company and company that makes personal care products makes something that is a “sure cure” for acne.  If we think about this, and use some common sense, we have to come to the conclusion that there is no quick or easy cure for acne, because if there was it would be well known and doctors would be telling everyone about it.

Numerous companies make a lot of money persuading people to buy products that at worst will make the acne worse, and at best may help some people a little.  Often fewer products are better.  People often make their acne much worse by using too many products.  There really is no quick fix for acne.  Don’t spend a lot of money on products just because their ads say that they will cure acne.  Your doctor is the best person to ask for help, and he or she may recommend some prescription medication or non-prescription treatment that may be suitable for you..

There are some very simple and basic things you can do that cost nothing.  Keep your face or any other area affected by acne very clean.  Any mild antibacterial soap will help with that.  Rinse the area well to remove all soap residue.   Drink plenty of water – it really does help to clear up acne.  Eat a nutritious diet and get enough sleep.  A healthy life style will make a difference.  Try to reduce the stress in your life – stress contributes to acne, so also probably the more you worry about the acne and focus on it, the worse it will be.

Probably the most useful and effective things you can do are to apply hot compresses to pustules and cysts and never to pick or squeeze pimples. Playing with or popping pimples, no matter how careful and clean you are, nearly always makes bumps stay redder and bumpier longer.

  7. okay.

acne is not contagious.however, if his skin is oily or he has whiteheads (or popped pimples with pus - sorry for the graphic details) it is possible for the bacteria on his face to clog your pores, causing your skin to break out.

if he is rubbing his face against yours, whether he had acne or not, you would still be at major risk for pimples.even touching your own face with your hands can cause breakouts, and if your bangs touch your forehead, the oil from your hair can cause breakouts. i would recommend using a toner before you go to bed and when you wake up. it will help to unclog your pores and keep the bacteria from other peoples skin and the air, out of them.
