  1. dutch boy makes what they call extreme adhesion exterior acrylic latex. i repainted aluminum siding with it and am very satisfied. all i had to do was use house wash to get the chalk off the old coating.

  2. Oil based paint is mostly used in the kitchen and bath, acrylic is the most common for exterior use as it is more flexible. Just remember that preparation is the most work and well worth the effort, just be sure to use a top grade acrylic. You may want to check consumer reports for their ratings. Issues are available in your local library.

  3. No acrylic.  Acrylic is water soluble and will wear off much faster than enamel.  It will also bubble on a hot summer day.  This will cause flaking when it cools down.  Use exterior paint only.

  4. Commercial exterior paints are defacto for painting outer walls. Anything less would compromise the structure and beauty of the place over the years.
