She was at the height of her popularity in the 90's but is still very popular and instantly recognizable to anyone living in Japan. I used to have a life size cardboard cut-out of her in my room from when she did ads for Fujifilm.

She is currently starring in the hit TV drama adaption of the popular manga, "Saito-san".

Her mother is half-Japanese and half-American.
