Is adoption of international adults possible in the US?

State courts in the USA do not have any jurisdiction over you in suits involving the parent-child relationship.

Are you using this proposed adoption as a method of obtaining residency and eventual naturalization into the USA?

The American residents possibly can adopt you in your home country [NOT in the USA] but you can only become a US Citizen by going through normal naturalization procedures because of your age.

If your home country will allow them to adopt you, your new parents will apply to the USCIS [US Citizenship and Immigration Service division of the Department of Homeland Security] for a permanent visa for you to live in the USA as a Resident Alien. Then you go through the regular naturalization procedure.

There are no short-cuts on this.

Yes.  In states that have adult adoption, this can be done.  However, it does not make the person a US citizen.  By law, the person still must complete the proper channels to do this.  You may read more about this at http://www.hooyou.com/adoption/citizensh... which is a Website for some U.S. attorneys and counselors.

Under the law, anyone who turned 18 after February 27, 2001 do not qualify automatically for citizenship.  According to the law, they must apply for naturalization and meet eligibility requirements that currently exist for adult lawful permanent residents.

For the person who wonders who would adopt an adult, there are several reasons for this, including a number of legal ones, such as inheritance, the ability to be next of kin in making medical decisions for one another, and other items that allow legal rights and responsibilities between the two parties that wouldn't exist otherwise.
