Question:

Is adultery seen as cool and socially acceptable in modern American culture?

It isn't even called adultery nowadays. Pop culture seems to think that there's nothing wrong with it. It's considered normal. What percentage of the population actually feels this way? Do you?

  1. Although it's more common than it was 50 years ago, adultery is never cool.  It affects the person who commits it, their spouse, and the person with whom they are committing adultery; not to mention any children on either side.  It's a sad statement on today's society that this question is even being asked.

  2. Adultery is wrong, always.

  3. I wouldn't say it's considered cool, I just think a lot of people do it. I personally feel if you are going to go through the process of marrying someone you are making a life long commitment. I think if you have a need to cheat on your wife or husband you should do the right thing and get a divorce.

Note: I don't care what the 10 commandments say, I still think adultery is wrong. Some people don't need mythological rules to not want to hurt someone else.

  4. yea its wrong... but i dont think so just cause of the bible or some fairytale said so its cause we as humans are losing our morals and were losing sight of what should really be important to us

marriage is a forever thing to me and should be respected highly and when you vow to someone that should mean something to you and you should stay true to your word

  5. ask the person that has just found out the person they love whole- heartedly is having an affair if it is alright.  'Pop culture' seems to mean lacking any common sense or decency.

Been there, no fun, happily unmarried, dogs rule!

  6. Umm no

  7. I'm not overtly religious but I believe God when he said "You're gonna reap what you sow."  A person may not see the results of their actions come to fruition now, but sooner or later life catches up with them.  When it does?  It's not pretty.  ( ^ _ ^ )

  8. Quite the contrary; most Americans are conservative about marriage and don't think it's normal.  I don't think there's been a study on this so I can't give you a percentage, but as an American: I don't think it's "cool" or acceptable but it's not the worst thing in the world.

  9. It depends on what your definition of "is" is. peace

  10. they now call it cheating and yes its wrong its breaking 1 of the ten commandments

  11. unfortunately the adverse effects of adultery are downplayed quite a bit in today's culture in America.  but if you ask anyone who's either cheated or been cheated on, you won't hear them say that it was a good experience. So even though it's downplayed, I can't say that it's considered cool.

  12. I doubt that many believe this is acceptable. More of an excuse when one is caught.

  13. no, but it's socially acceptable to kill innocent people and call it fighting "terrorism". lol same sh*t
