  1. Like the bible says, "the good crops grew up with the weeds." Technology can be used for good and bad. Example: WWII brought about mass destruction but will (and may already have) saved far more lives from the technology that it fostered. Specifically, the Haber process, a process designed to fix nitrogen for bomb making, was eventually used to make fertilizer which greatly increased the supply of food and lowered prices of food for the entire world forever more.

    Planes can be used for war or for allowing people to see their families when working abroad.

    Ultimately, technology has been beneficial because we are able to support more life and make life more comfortable for most people. If this were not the case, then there would not be as many people as there are today. Moreover, if problems persist or new problems arise, it will be up to technology to solve it. After all, without crude oil, we wouldn't have the energy to find an alternate fuel source. Moreover, we wouldn't be able to create more wealth for humanity by making more capital.
