I know we don't use CFCs anymore, but is aerosol still harmful to our atmosphere? Do all aerosol cans contain VOCs?

  1. The use of chlorinated fluorhydrocarbons (CFC's) for aerosol propellants (with a couple of exceptions for things like medical inhalers) has been banned in the US since 1978.

Since the PRIMARY environmental concern about aerosol propellants was CFC ozone depletion potential, and the CFC's have been removed from aerosol propellants, the simple answer to your question is "No."

They may contain CO2, but you probably put more CO2 in the air by driving to and from the store to buy the product than what the product has in it.

Now, there may be trace elements of things that could potentially harm the environment - but these would be much much less than they were.  And of course, this doesn't address the stuff that is actually being

And, of course, if what you are propelling is insecticide, there may be some environmental concern about that.

But in general, no.   Aerosols are now now more dangerous to the environment than anything else.

    Good question.

  2. I thought the aerosol was the CFC, but I guess i don't know that much about it, I though they mostly used CO2 for propellent now

  3. aerosols  are any liquid or gas suspened in air ... but most aerosols are harmful because of their length of suspension in the atmosphere. they actually dont cause global warming or anything but actually acid rain .. most aerosols actually cool the environment but there is just so much of one (CO2) that it overwhelms anything else... so yeah...

  4. NO AND IT NEVER WAS, . PROBLEM IS PEOPLE WITH MONEY DECIDED THAT WAS WRONG AND MADE IT PUBLIC, EVEN THOUGH LIKE OUR GOVERNMENT DID'NT KNOW WHAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT. THEIR IS'NT ANYTHING MAN MADE THAT CAUSES GLOBAL WARMING AND ALL NON- SOLIDS DECIPATE IN THE HIGH THIN AIR. FACT.
