Is aflac exclusively a supplemental insurance?

I have been told that aflac insurance is not an actual insurance but supplemental. Can anyone tell me whether or not this is true.

It's funny, because I JUST called them, today.  Yeah, they are purely supplemental.  Not a bad idea, incase something happens.  My mother has them, and she said that they are VERY reliable.  Worth looking into.

Yes, it is true. They have decent policies, but in order to purchase coverage, at least 3 people from your office must purchase. And, your employer has to take it directly from your paycheck.

Didn't work out for me b/c my co-workers didn't want the coverage!
