  1. The results of agriculture can be an import.

Whilst we grow food in the UK, some are imported from abroad.

  2. i believe that agriculture is farming - the raising of crops and work with the land. On this basis i don't see how agriculture can be an import.

  3. Agriculture is the process of raising crops, animals, fruit, trees, fish, etc. It is not an import or an export.  Agriculture products can be exported or imported. It depends on what country you are asking about. The US is an exporter of agriculture products. India, as you mentioned is a net importer of agriculture products.

  4. no , how could it be when we are producing it over here (ie.potatoes) when we sell potatoes it is an export......but when we buy a new tractor or seeds to grow new crops this isa then an import...

  5. Agriculture was first invented, more than 10,000 years ago, and arose independently in several places, as well as being "imported" by hunter-gatherer societies who did not develop it independently. India is one of the likely origins of agriculture.

  6. Agriculture is the collective term for products produced on the land, also includes the likes of viniculture or hoticulture.

The products can be imported directly, eg fruit, vegetables, or as a result of manufacturing, eg milk powder, butter, cheese, or by processing, eg beef, mutton, pork.

  7. As others have answered, in general, "Agriculture" is an activity, the result of which can be an import/exportable product....

However...To take a broad view of your question, Agricultural *Sciences* and Agricultural *Practices* are quite certainly an import/export. It goes on every day and is the backbone of multi-national businesses & NGOs.

    To illustrate the nuance:

A farmer in Kansas harvests his crop and it is ultimately shipped to China. China has just imported an agricultural *product*.

But, let's say that this same farmer has developed a new rotational method that increases the yield of corn crops. He contracts with a Co-op Farm in Canada to teach them the techniques he's developed. This in a sense is "Agriculture" (the science) being imported.

There is a lot of this type of import/export occuring in the dairy industry right now. In large part sponsored/supported by grants & goodwill programs, American vets & dairymen are travelling to Eastern Europe (sometimes with s***n or even livestock) to assist dairymen there in best practices for milk yield and herd health.

Hope that this helps. Good luck with your endeavor.

    Cheers.

  8. An industry can't be an import, or export for that matter. The PRODUCT of the industry, such as meat, cereals, milk, whatever, can be imported or exported.  You may have heard that agriculture in India was a net importer, i.e. the industry imported more than it exported.

  9. If you are talking about the history, agriculture is believed to have begun in the Fertile Crescent region (Iraq area).

If I'm not on the right track then... agriculture is basically just another name for farming

  10. yes
