  1. Agriculture is possible in places that are cold, but the colder it is the more difficult and costly it is.

  2. How cold? How many warm days? There's 80 day corn, 100 day corn, etc.

  3. food production does not even require natural sunlight, as long as you have plenty of capital

  4. We have managed to adapt to most areas on the planet, hot or cold, by either adapting the crop or modifying the environment. We develop new plant varieties that do better in the extremes, we incorporate new crops into our lives, we build structures and modify growing areas (micro climates), and even take our crops into space to research them. Below is a link to Antarctic greenhouse production done at McMurdo Station.

  5. even in polar area Agriculture is possible by way of nutrient film technique (NFT) where we can grow plants under glass houses with nutrient solution passing through roots and no soil is required. Temperature , PH, co2 content, nutrient status etc are comtrolled.

  6. Iceland has acres and acres under glass (greenhouses) that are heated by geothermal heat.

  7. Yes agriculture is possible in cold areas. It just takes different adaptations to be done. Agriculture can be done under greenhouses but after a while it can get costly. Due to the heat required and all of the other necessary requirements.
