  1. When it is moving it definitely a free good because no-one can charge you for the wind blowing and generating electricity.  Air is a renewable energy just like wind is so yes it is a free good.

  2. Not anymore!  It seems that we as a people pay for everything at least twice. (we are taxed on everything more than once), so free air, sure, but if you want to know the truth, without the air everything would shut down, and everything would be cheap!

In the long view of it all, as long as you are breathing you will be paying!!!!!

  3. What is not necessarily a free good, is clean air.

If we pollute the air, we change it from a free good to a good that we have to pay to clean up.

That is not to say we can always clean it up even if we pay to pollute.

But no, if clean air is a limited resource it can be charged for. Building owners may have to spend a lot of cash to provide clean air, And of course if the same building spews out a lot of pollutants, it makes it progressively more costly to provide that clean air.

If a city were to provide a dome, with clean air inside, and dirty air outside, part of our cost to live there would be the cost of clean air, or more exactly the cost of cleaning air.

  5. Your taking an economics class arent you?

Yes in most cases.. unless its like special packaged "pure air" or maybe air to fill a scuba tank... A free good is non-scarce.. ie it is so abundant that there is more than enough for everybody.  Or in more economic terms.. there is greater supply for the good than there is demand at a price of zero$...      No good that has monetary value is a free good even if you recieved it for free. Does this answer your question?

  6. There is no charge to breathe - so yes the air is free.

The definition of a "good" is something produced or distributed in a organized manner. Air is not produce or distributed by a human orginization so it is not a "good".

  7. yes air is a free good by definition. Because by definition, free good is a good whose ownership is not known.

  8. You can buy oxygen.
